House Events
In keeping with Markham College’s British tradition, the House system plays a central role in school life. Each student is assigned to one of our four Houses: Cochrane, Guise, Miller, or Rowcroft. These Houses are named after notable British figures who have made significant contributions, either in civilian or military roles, to the history of Peru.
The strength of each House lies in teamwork. Every member, whether a student or a teacher, contributes to their House’s success. Each House is led by a Head, a teacher responsible for guiding and supporting students. Meanwhile, House Captains, chosen by their peers, represent student leadership. Their role is crucial, as they are tasked with motivating their House and striving for victory in various competitions.
Throughout the year, the Houses earn points across a wide range of activities, including sports events (such as the Swimming Gala, Sports Day, and Mini Games), cultural events (including House Art and House Cooking), academic achievements, and other team-based competitions. These points contribute to the overall House standings.
