Admissions of New Students
All families are welcome to apply for their child’s admission to Markham College. Families interested in enrolling should visit the school’s website to complete the Online Enquiry Form or request more information directly through the form available online. Once submitted, families will receive an electronic copy of the School’s Internal Regulations, and the Admissions Office will reach out to discuss the next steps in the application process (further details on this process are provided below).
It is essential to note that Markham College seeks to offer places to families who are fully aligned with our educational philosophy, which is underpinned by our mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
We also aim to maintain an appropriate number of students per class or section (with limited spaces available). As a co-educational school, we strive to achieve a balanced ratio of boys and girls within our student body, and these considerations are an integral part of our admissions process.
Priorities and Considerations
Frequently, the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, so we cannot guarantee admission to all interested families. Therefore, we kindly ask that you review the following admissions priorities, which are applied in line with the legal provisions issued by the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities:
- Siblings of Current Students: Applicants who have siblings already enrolled at the College.
- Families with Connections to the College: Children of families directly connected to the College, such as siblings of alumni, children of former students, OMAs, and children of College staff.
- New Families: Children from families with no previous connection to the College, whether local or international.
All new families applying to Markham College must be introduced by two members of the British Educational Association of Peru (AEBP). Members are parents whose children are currently studying at the College (this does not include College staff). For the application, please provide the full name and contact details of the referring members to facilitate contact during the admissions process. Recently arrived foreign families who may not know two AEBP members may submit a letter from their employer recommending their child’s inclusion in our institution.
Who is Evaluated?
Following legal guidelines from the Ministry of Education, Markham College does not conduct assessments for applicants to Early Years: FS1 (3 years), FS2 (4 years), Kinder (5 years), or Primary 1 (P1, 6 years). In these grades, students are placed according to their age.
All other applicants are required to complete age-appropriate assessments suited to their grade level. Parents are responsible for informing the College of any known educational needs, ensuring we can support the child effectively. This includes any potential language development needs, as these are essential for the child to benefit from our Early Years English Immersion Programme and subsequent Bilingual Programme (English/Spanish). In such cases, the College may request an external specialist evaluation to gather further information.
Please follow the Online Enquiry Form link to request more information about the admissions process and guided visits to the school.
Notification of Application Results
All applicant families will receive an email with the final decision of the College. Places will only be offered to applicants who have satisfactorily met all entry requirements. Please note that discussions regarding the final admissions decision are not part of the admissions process.
Parents of applicants offered a place should then visit the College to sign the offer letter, completing the Admissions process.
