Enrolment Requirements for New Primary and Secondary Students (P2 to 6B)
To enrol a student offered a place at Markham College, parents must submit the required application documents.
Additional documentation may be required:
Local Transfers:
- A simple copy of the final report or academic record for the last two approved academic years.
- The Ficha Única de Matrícula (FUM) from the last institution attended, an official Ministry of Education document.
- A clearance certificate from the previous institution verifying no outstanding fees.
- SIAGIE enrolment certificate for the academic year if the transfer occurs mid-year (March to October).
International Transfers:
- If the student previously attended school in Peru, they will need the Ficha Única de Matrícula (FUM) from the last Peruvian school.
- The Ministerial Resolution of the validation or recognition of foreign studies and a copy of the initial receipt from the Peruvian Ministry of Education. If the Ministerial Resolution is still in process, the receipt is required initially, followed by the final resolution. Please note that this process involves the official recognition by the Peruvian State of studies completed abroad by students. Therefore, it is a personal process that must be carried out by the parents (not by Markham College).
What is the Validation of Studies?
It is a procedure through which Peru officially recognises basic education studies from countries with which it has an agreement, such as those covered by the Andrés Bello Agreement: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela; the Peru-Argentina Agreement: Argentina; and the Mercosur Agreement: Brazil and Uruguay.
What is the Revalidation of Studies?
This procedure is required when primary or secondary education has been completed in a country with which Peru does not have an agreement. In such cases, for these studies to be recognised, any discrepancies in curricula must be resolved, if applicable.
Requirements from the Peruvian Ministry of Education to initiate the Validation or Revalidation of studies completed abroad:
Both Peruvian nationals returning to the country and foreign nationals must submit an Official Certificate of Studies or an equivalent document issued by the school for the last grade completed at the level where they will continue their studies (Primary or Secondary).
This documentation must be certified by the educational authority of the country of origin and must include the Hague Apostille if the country is a signatory to the Convention. If the country of origin is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention, the Official Certificate of Studies or equivalent document must be legalised by the Peruvian consul or ambassador in that country. Once in Lima, it must be taken to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the consul’s signature to be authenticated.
If the certificate or equivalent document, with the apostille or legalisation by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is in another language, it must be translated into Spanish by an official translator.
The certificate and its translation, if applicable, must be submitted to the Virtual Help Desk of the Ministry of Education or in person at Calle Del Comercio 193, San Borja, along with a copy of the DNI (for Peruvian students) or the original birth certificate (for foreign students). Please note that the birth certificates of foreign students must also be apostilled by the country of origin or legalised by the Peruvian Consulate in that country.
