MARKHAM EXPERIENCE

Markham is a co-educational, bilingual school with a British Heritage and a distinct Peruvian and international perspective that leads the way in innovation for education in Peru and South America

At Markham, we believe that people make a difference. While we know academic qualifications matter, we also acknowledge the importance of each student’s holistic development. We believe that success in life requires a combination of a meaningful contribution to society and the environment, family happiness, personal fulfilment, and professional achievement.

Students and their families are at the centre of the Markham experience in our two campuses in Miraflores and Surco in Lima, Peru. Our care for children, their well-being, and their emotional, psychological, and physical development support their academic growth throughout their Markham journey. We work in partnership with families because we know that each child is unique, each family is unique, and thus, their relationship with the school is individual.

Building on years of tradition and success since 1946, Markham continues to develop as an innovative and forward-thinking educational centre that stresses universal values modelled and enacted throughout all aspects of life at school from Early Years and beyond. We believe in empowering everyone to be agents of positive change in Peru and beyond.

The Learning Journey
at Markham College

Three Sections,Two Campuses, One School

At Markham College, we operate across three sections on two campuses, yet we function as one cohesive school. Our unified approach spans the curriculum, specialist areas, and student support, all grounded in our Principles of Action.

This structure allows each section to cater to the individual needs of our students at their respective age levels, ensuring that everything is designed with their unique requirements in mind.

A Markham education begins in Early Years on our Monterrico campus, where play-based learning and a focus on young children’s social and emotional development provide a strong foundation for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum.

Our Primary students, also located on the Monterrico campus, learn within communities that prioritise building strong interpersonal relationships. In the PYP, students are expected to be active partners in their learning process. Through inquiry, they develop conceptual understandings and skills that are further explored in the IGCSE and IB Programmes in Secondary.

In Secondary, on our San Antonio campus, students from Primary 6 to Secondary 2 are exposed to a wide variety of coursework and an extensive list of co-curricular options. This allows them to explore their academic interests and foster their individual growth. As they move into Secondary 3 and 4, students take more agency over their studies, choosing from a broader range of courses available in the IGCSE Programme. Finally, senior students following the IB curriculum solidify their individual interests and talents in preparation for university and beyond.

At Markham, we take a holistic approach to education, guiding our students as they grow and mature through each step of their personal learning journey, from Foundation Stage 1 to the International Baccalaureate (IB). Three Sections, Two Campuses, One School.
