Preparing for the Lima 2019 Pan-American Games

Previous to the arrival of the Lima 2019 Pan-American Games, on Wednesday 22 May we had the opportunity to receive Luisa Villar (Roosevelt School teacher and Peruvian representative of the Pan-Am organisation) and Juan Leon (a well-known Peruvian swimmer) in the Lower School.

Luisa gave a speech to raise awareness amongst the students and teach them about sports for people with physical disabilities; Juan shared his story on overcoming adversity after having suffered an accident where he lost both of his legs and even so was able to follow his dreams. Today, he is not only known for being an excellent swimmer but also as a symbol of perseverance.

This was an excellent opportunity for the students who were not only able to meet important personalities of Peruvian sports but also gained powerful and positive life lessons.
