Mayor’s Cup International 2019

Before the start of the tournament, the team played 2 friendly games helping them to adapt to the very cold weather. The first game was a 1-1 tie vs Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club and the other a 1-0 win vs the Dutch team, Buiten Boys.

In the first day of official play, Markham beat Impact United from Utah 3-0 and then tied 0-0 with CGA Academy from Idaho. On the second day, the team started off with a clear 4-0 win vs Central City Breakers from Canada and in the evening, tied 0-0 with Downtown Las Vegas Soccer club in a very intense and excellent game by our students played during inclement weather. This meant both teams would finish in 1st place but Markham lost the goal differential tiebreaker by 2 goals.

Regardless of not making it to the final, the team displayed great football by remaining undefeated in 6 international matches, showed good behaviour on and off the pitch and were overall great ambassadors for Markham. Well done, boys!
