LAHC Greenstock VIII.5 Student conference

The LAHC Greenstock VIII.5 Student conference took place in October with the aim of raising awareness and promoting active empathy for life. Approximately 90 students from 23 different schools in Latin America participated, including attendees from Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, and Colombia.
Guest speakers included Joaquin Leguia (Peruvian environmentalist and the creator of ANIA, an organisation that aims to empower children and help promote active empathy for life globally), Jakub Goscinny (Polish Global Outreach and Development Manager of Future Foundations, an organisation that aims to inspire young people to achieve their full potential and become leaders in their lives and within society) as well as Fernando Barrios (representative of UNESCO in Peru).
At the end of the conference, the participants had developed ten specific actions to encourage empathy for life, which they will present to UNESCO to support this Sustainable Development Goal. All attendees were also encouraged to enter a project in the Global Goals competition that seeks to develop students’ understanding of global citizenship.
