DT featured in DATA magazine

We are pleased to share the latest edition of The Design and Technology Association’s magazine where Markham College’s Design and Technology (DT) department was featured thanks to the efforts made last year by Ms Rachel Wyncoll (Head of the DT department) to inspire young students to become involved in this subject.

DT is about providing opportunities for students to develop their capability, combining their designing skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products.

DT offers a window into a range of careers and opportunities in the design industry. In 2018 students were able to get a preview of what this entails by participating in Design Ventura, the department’s first fair. The challenges and competitions were an incredible success, gathering participants from other schools and several sponsors.

In 2019 DT  has plans for an even bigger Design Ventura 2.0 and restyling our curriculum with core elements like skills building revolving around manufacturing and documented through online media. We are looking to steer away from the design-make projects of the past to offer a much broader range of experiences, drawing from our teachers’ different disciplines and industry experience. We are very excited for what is to come!
