Student Support
At Markham College, our youngest students in Early Years are welcomed into a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment. We are committed to maintaining the highest educational standards at every level, while offering personalised learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs.
We encourage parents to openly share any specific needs their child may have. This collaboration ensures that students receive the extra support they need to thrive during their school journey.

Children participate in dedicated PSE lessons where they learn to identify and express their emotions, and understand their responsibilities to others and what it means to be an active member of a community. These values are reinforced throughout all aspects of school life, helping students grow into thoughtful and responsible members of the Markham community.
We recognise that each child learns and develops at their own pace and in their own way. Every aspect of learning and development is important and interconnected.
Our Special Educational Needs (SEN) programme is designed to support children with a variety of needs and to provide guidance to parents and staff on how best to address them. The team continually monitors each child’s progress across all areas, and offers personalised support for those who benefit from a more individualised learning approach.
We offer a range of learning support programmes that address academic, personal, and social areas. These programmes may focus on areas such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory development, literacy, numeracy, English as an Additional Language (EAL), self-regulation, and social abilities.
All support services provided within our SEN programme are offered free of charge to all Markham families.
Our dedicated student support team includes a psychologist, occupational therapist, and learning support staff, all of whom are available to provide regular guidance to parents, teachers, and students. Parents are always welcome to schedule a meeting with the Deputy Head of Pastoral whenever additional support or consultation is needed.
