PRIMARY
Curriculum
Markham College’s Primary School offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). As an IB World School, we share a common philosophy: a commitment to high-quality, challenging international education that nurtures curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. Only schools authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation are permitted to offer its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career-related Programme (CP).
Markham´s curriculum is designed to provide the best possible learning experience, integrating international standards with the requirements of the Peruvian Ministry of Education. The Markham IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) emphasizes inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and student agency. Our new world-class Primary facilities, opened in March 2024, embody this approach with innovative spaces that break away from the traditional classroom model to foster independent learning and teamwork.
The facilities include modern science labs, an ICT, design, coding, and robotics innovation centre, and a food science lab where students explore nutrition as a science. Our performance centres for theatre and music, along with spaces for visual art exhibitions, reflect our commitment to the arts. Sports remain central to student life, with our sports centre offering two competition courts and two swimming pools that cater to different ages and skill levels.
Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The PYP curriculum at Markham College is designed to cultivate caring, knowledgeable, and inquiring students who are motivated to take meaningful action in the world around them. Our collaborative workspaces are at the heart of this programme, providing dynamic environments that encourage exploration and curiosity. Students engage in a wide range of inquiry-based learning experiences, thereby developing ownership, voice, and choice in their educational journey.
