Markham College was founded in 1946

Name origin

The School was named in honour of Sir Clements Robert Markham KCB FRS (1830 – 1916) who was a geographer, explorer and writer who researched and promote Peru, as well as its history, culture and nature.

Admission

The Early Years admission process is held one year prior to entering the College. Admissions evaluations to all other year groups are held at scheduled times throughout the year, pending the availability of spaces.

Shield

The shield was designed by Mr Victor Corante in April 1949. The College motto is: Studiis et Rebus Honestis. According to a professor from the Classics Department at the University of Cambridge, these words, taken from Horace, translate as: For honourable studies and pursuits.
