| The Drama Department
Markham College stages up to five major dramatic performances each year throughout the school, which include performances by students in English, Spanish and sometimes French.
In keeping with our Peruvian traditions, Bailes Peruanos is a very popular choice for students and features two major performances a year in the Lower School; classes are also offered in Ballet and Salsa. The Lower School puts on a major musical production every year in English and numerous children participate from all year groups.
In the Upper School, the Head of Drama contributes considerably to the development of music at Markham. Students may participate in any of the yearly productions such as a dramatic Spanish production, a musical English production or in the presentation of One-Act Plays. There are also drama groups in both English and Spanish in the Upper School as extra-curricular activities.
Over the past 10 years Markham students in the Upper School have performed in the following English productions:
2008 - Smike
2007 - Macbeth the Musical
2006 - The Pirates of Penzance
2005 - Calamity Jane
