| The Art Department
The Art Programme begins with our youngest learners in Pre-kinder with weekly classes and continues on until our Secondary 1 Upper School students. Each Section of the school has their own well-equipped, spacious, purpose-built art rooms that cater to the creative needs of students at each level of their artistic development.
Art is a part of the core curriculum from Pre-kinder until Secondary 1. Thereafter, it is one of the optional subjects that students may take at either IGCSE or IB level, depending upon their individual interests. There are fully-trained and experienced teachers in each of the three Art departments at Markham. Typically, the art rooms are a hive of activity at all hours of the day and at weekends in the Upper School. In addition, there are several teachers who offer a range of arts and crafts activities in the extra-curricular art activities that are offered throughout the College all year.
Beginning in 2008, the Art Department will offer a new IGCSE examination course in Fashion Design. We are very excited about this new addition to the curriculum.
