Entrance to Markham College normally begins at the Pre-Kinder level when the children are four years old.
Children applying for entrance into the 2011 Pre-Kinder programme must have been born between 01 January 2006 and 31 March 2007. The last day that applications will be accepted is Friday 26 March 2010. All Pre-Kinder 2011 applications handed in later than this date will be considered lateral entries and therefore will follow the lateral entry process. This usually means that those children will be evaluated later in the year, space-permitting.
If you have a child for PK 2012, born between 01 January 2007 and 31 March 2008, Application packages may be picked up from our Early Years reception area from November 2010 onwards.
Our policy at Markham is to give priority to applicants with older siblings who are either currently studying in Markham or have already graduated from the College. Priority status is also given to the children of Old Markhamians and assumes that, where appropriate, all children of school age are attending or have graduated from Markham College. Please be aware that all spaces are offered subject to a satisfactory evaluation process. This applies to all applicants, both Pre-Kinder and Lateral Entry.
The application package includes the following forms:
- Application for entry to Markham College
- Applicant’s personal information form
- Nursery information form
- Personal and financial statement (new families only)
These documents should be completed, properly signed and accompanied by the following additional information:
- The applicant’s birth certificate (the original for Peruvian citizens, a notarized copy for all others).
- Two up-to-date, passport-sized photographs of your child and one family photo.
- The receipt of the non-refundable application fee of $250.
The entry process for Pre-Kinder includes an assigned play date in Early Years and the evaluation itself. The exact dates and times for both will be sent to your child’s nursery with a two week notice of the dates assigned.
