WHAT ACADEMIC PROGRAMME WILL THE VISITING STUDENT FOLLOW?

This depends on the age of the student. Younger students in P6 to S2 will follow general preparatory courses in a wide range of subjects. Most of these are taught in English. Arrangements will be made for the student to participate in foreign language classes, if the home language is not English. As a compulsory part of the syllabus, religion may be taught at least once a week, which may not emphasise the Roman Catholic faith. If they so desire, parents may request that their child is opted out of this class, in which case a wider general studies course may be set. Older students in S3 and S4 may follow University of Cambridge IGCSE courses similar to those at Markham, or courses of an equivalent level to IGCSE. Sixth form students will follow the IB Diploma course, or subjects of their choice at a similar level. Every attempt will be made by the Director of Studies of the host school to match the Markham student's classes as closely as possible with similar subjects taught at a similar level as those in the home school.

It is expected that Markham could arrange for some specialised courses not taught at the host school to be made accessible via email or Internet, so that they may be followed by supported self-access mode.
