WHERE ARE WE? Peru is found in the north-west of the South American continent. It is the third largest country in South America, and enjoys three distinct geographic regions: the desert coast, running 2,683kms in length from the border with Ecuador in the north to Chile in the south; the Andes mountains, crowned by Huascarán (6,746m) in the beautiful departamento of Ancash, and Lake Titicaca, mythical birthplace of the Incas, bordering with Bolivia; and the lush and diverse expanses of the Amazon jungle, which we share with our neighbours Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.
