ADVENTURE

Markhamians like an adventure or two! All our primary students undertake a week's experience at Iwana Camp. In Upper School, all S1 students participate in a week's activities at an outdoor centre in Huancayo, while in S2 students are offered the chance to do something similar in the mountain environment of Huaraz. All our S3 students spend a week in the jungle of Madre de Dios, based in Tambopata. They quickly learn about living with nature – trekking through the untamed forest, paddling across oxbow lakes, and trying to identify strange sounds in the night whilst standing alone on an isolated track! The experience is extended with students in their second IB year. Every year, more of our students earn the International Award at higher levels.

If you're looking for a Markhamian, try spotting one sifting the sand dunes of Casma, biking the hills of Pachacamac, climbing the Markham Mountain, trekking at altitude in the Andes, white water rafting in Lunahuana, canoeing around the Ballestas Islands or surfing the waves of Chicama. In fact, drop in on any one of the 143 activities in Upper School – you're guaranteed an adventure, no matter what it is!
