| HOW CAN YOU BECOME A DELEGATE? |
Becoming a Round Square delegate is a responsibility and a privilege. As only a limited number of places are available each year (usually two for a regional conference, five for an international conference) and the number of requests exceed the number of places available, there has to be an application and selection procedure. Initially, we will ask you to write a statement outlining why you think you should be considered as a Round Square delegate. The selection panel, made up of student and staff representatives, will evaluate your request, supported by statements provided by your teachers and Head of Year. It should be stressed that your commitment and dedication to the Round Square IDEALS will count enormously, so the better your history, the better your chances should be. Your application will be awarded a points score. Those students with the highest point scores will be invited to a personal or group interview with the selection panel. This panel will interview the short-listed candidates and award them further points based on the interview. The results of the total points scored will provide a ranked list for the final approval of the school Dirección. Participation in a conference has its financial costs, which are shared by the student and the school. The student pays a substantial contribution towards the cost of travel to the host school, any pre- or post-conference visits, and travel/medical insurance. The school pays the conference fee, which includes the cost of the conference itself, and the cost of food, accommodation and transport whilst there. The costs of each conference, the price of airline tickets and insurance, as well as the proportion payable by the school are all subject to change. |
